The LCS is a joint research unit (UMR 6506) of the CNRS, the École Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs de Caen(ENSICAEN) and theUniversité de Caen Normandie.

• We prepare materials and study their properties in order tooptimize their performance in the fields of the environment and sustainable development,energy or new technologies (sensors, drug delivery, etc.).
• We are a high-performance, productive laboratory, highly ranked by national assessment bodies (HCERES, CNRS). Our expertise in catalytic materials and spectroscopic characterization tools is internationally recognized.
• We have technical platforms and project teams experienced in working in partnership with companies.
• We have a strong tradition of cooperation with industry (local, national, international) through fundamental research and the provision of services (LCSValoris)
• As part of theInstitut Carnot ESP, and thanks to ourinvolvement in a number of national and international networks, we offer multi-disciplinary collaborative resources for finding solutions to complex problems.
