Spectroscopic characterization in extreme in situ and operando conditions in the field of catalysis for energy and chemistry
We are looking for a student to apply for a grant of the French Ministry of Research (deadline for application, May-June 2014).The subject of the PhD thesis will concern the in-situ characterization of catalysts activated and/or used under extreme conditions (high temperature and pressure, corrosive gas….). First the study will focus on catalysts used in hydrodesulfurization process and in particular in the effect of the support on the nature and concentration of active sites. Then, we would like to extent the work to catalysts used for hydrodeoxygenation or Claus reaction. The work will involve preparation of catalysts, activity tests and characterization essentially by infra-red spectroscopy using a unique cell developed in the laboratory (Cellex).
The thesis will be supervised by Dr Laetitia Oliviero and Dr Françoise Maugé.

Master Recherche en chimie (appliquée, catalyse ou chimie inorganique), physico-chimie ou sciences des matériaux. Formation en cinétique chimique et techniques de caractérisation usuelles de solides (spectroscopie IR, porosimétrie, DRX, microscopie électronique, RMN…).
La thèse se déroulera au Laboratoire de Catalyse et Spectrochimie à l’ENSICAEN (www-lcs.ensicaen.fr).
Salaire et type de financement
Une demande de bourse ministérielle pour la rentrée 2014 sera effectuée auprès de l’Ecole doctorale SIMEN de l’université de Caen (date limite de dépôt, Mai-Juin 2014). La qualité du CV du candidat sera un élément clé pour l’obtention de cette bourse. L’étudiant sera salarié de l’université de Caen Basse Normandie (3 ans / environ 1300 euros brut/mois ).
