POST-DOC position available – NOx trap – [ Closed ]

[warning]

This position is now closed.

[/warning]

In the frame of a project financed by Toyota, the LCS recruits a post-Doc likely to start as soon as possible. The project aims at gaining further knowledge on a specific deNOx catalytic process: the NOx trap one. The comprehension work will be directed towards crucial questions related to the kinetics of the NOx adsorption at various coverage levels during the ‘lean’ period. The reaction mechanism will also be investigated during the so-called ‘rich’ reduction step. In particular the determination of relevant kinetic parameters fully describing the catalytic action will be crucial

Regarding the work frame, the project focuses on:

– Academic research: i) study of the catalysts surface composition by adsorption of probe molecules followed by infrared spectroscopy and ii) understanding of the reaction mechanisms from the operando infrared spectroscopy study of model reactions.

– Industrial research: evaluation of new technology and ii) extraction of relevant kinetic parameters via the modeling of both the catalytic activity and the coverage levels in various adsorbed species at the catalyst surface.

– The experimental development: developing a setup for the study of samples in the operando mode under SSITKA conditions.

Profile of the candidate:

Holder of a phD thesis in heterogeneous catalysis (the position is to be occupied as soon as possible so that the candidate must have defended), the excellent candidate must fill comfortable with any gas phase analysis technique (mass spectrometry techniques, IR Chemiluminescence, gas-phase chromatography…) and have strong skills in catalytic reactors engineering and kinetic modeling. A first experience in the practical implementation of the SSITKA (Steady State Isotopic Transient Kinetic Analysis) methodology would be greatly appreciated.

The work progress meetings will be held with our Japanese partners and thus both written and spoken English is essential.

Information/contacts:

The duration of the project is for 1 year and the post-doctoral contract will be a 6 months duration (renewable).
