Job Offer: an NMR/MRI Engineer for Physiopathology and imaging of neurological disorders laboratory

The University of Caen is looking for an NMR/MRI Engineer for Physiopathology and imaging of neurological disorders laboratory (PhIND, http://www.phind.fr/index.php/en/)

UNICAEN, with its 32,000 students, is a major player and a driving force behind the development of higher education and research in Normandy. UNICAEN is a member of Normandie University.
The recruited engineer will be based in the PhIND laboratory under the scientific responsibility of the principal investigator of the project, and will work in close collaboration with our collaborators from the Laboratory of Catalysis and Spectrochemistry (LCS) and more occasionally with those of the Center d’Etude et de Recherche sur le Médicament de Normandie (CERMN).

Main tasks:

The work will be carried out as part of the NanoXe_Inflammation research project funded by the Normandy Region (2021-2023), a project aiming at developing new diagnostic tools for inflammation by
hyperpolarized xenon MRI.This project is part of a close collaboration between the Center d’Etude et de Recherches sur le Médicament de Normandie (CERMN, boulevard Henri Becquerel, 14000 CAEN; http://cermn.unicaen.fr/), the Laboratory of Catalysis and Spectrochemistry (LCS, boulevard Maréchal Juin, 14000 CAEN; https://www.lcs.ensicaen.fr/) and the Physiopathology and imaging of neurological disorders laboratory (PhIND, UMRs 1237 INSERM, boulevard Henri Becquerel, 14000 CAEN; http://www.phind.fr/index.php/en/) and the Blood and Brain Institute @Caen-Normandie. The engineer will carry out the characterizations of samples and in vitro studies in xenon NMR (thermal and hyperpolarized), as well as will make the link with the experiments in hyperpolarized xenon MRI carried out at GIP CYCERON (18 months contract, 2072 € brut/ month). Data acquisition will be carried out on Bruker spectrometers.

The recruited engineer will be trained to use a new xenon hyperpolarization setup developed at LCS, in order to:
- Perform xenon NMR analyzes (thermal or hyperpolarized) of the samples provided.
- Participate in the first essays of hyperpolarized xenon MRI at GIP CYCERON.
- Participate to in vitro tests of diagnostic tools provided in NMR and MRI of hyperpolarized xenon.
A good knowledge in NMR or MRI, as well as in NMR data processing and in result analysis is required. The candidate should know how to use a NMR spectrometer.
An additional knowledge in programming language, as well as the use of hyperpolarized xenon would be highly appreciated. Knowledge of biology and / or imaging would be a plus.
 Required education level: Master degree

Applications should be done by email to emmanuelle.dubost@unicaen.fr before March 15, 2021 including: - a cover letter - a curriculum vitae describing the candidate's previous training course and experience
