Postdoc position: Synthesis of organometallic complexes for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 (LCS-Caen) Research project

23 October 2017

Description

Mimicking natural photosynthesis, photoreduction of CO2 on artificial systems (photocatalysis) would reach a new generation of renewable fuels. Despite recent advances in this field, the efficiency of the proposed systems is still weak and much work is required for this technology to reach reality. The emerging understanding of the reaction mechanism, as well as designing new materials can reach fulfilment in the near future.

The main objective of this project is to prepare new organometallic complexes for CO2 photoreduction. The desired complexes will be designed and prepared basing on the recent advances in this field by associating a photosensitizer (Ir or Ru based photosensitizer, etc.) with a co-catalyst complexes (Co, Ni, based catalyst). Linker molecules/materials will be used for connecting the two components and promoting the electron transfer from the photosensitizer to the metal center of the catalyst.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a recent Ph.D. degree in molecular chemistry, or related field. The ideal candidate for this position must have a strong expertise in both organic synthesis and coordination chemistry. A good knowledge in Photo(electro)-chemical characterization techniques (cyclic voltammetry, fluorimeter, etc.) of the complexes and in photocatalysis is very appreciated.

Please attach to the cover letter outlining the applicant’s relevant research experience and motivation for applying to the position a detailed CV and contact details for potential referees.

English, both written and spoken, is essential; French knowledge is beneficial.
