In 2018, TEQOYA partnered with 2 researchers Marco Daturi from LCS (ENSICAEN/CNRS/University of Caen) and Christian Serre from IMAP (ENS/PSL/CNRS) in order to find a reliable, efficient and sustainable solution to eliminate one of the most harmful pollutants: formaldehyde.
Today, this fruitful collaboration has led to the creation of the company SQUAIR Tech. SQUAIR Tech is developing advanced materials called MOFs (Metal Organic Frameworks) to solve indoor air quality problems. These hybrid-structured materials can effectively capture harmful gaseous pollutants with a lifetime of several years. It provides solutions to air pollution problems that are not well addressed by current technologies.
Currently, two products are in the catalog of this company:
SQUAIR-1A can degrade nitrogen oxides (NO and NO2) at room temperature. These toxic gases are captured and transformed by the MOF into a harmless gas and water vapor. Based on a patented technology, SQUAIR-1A is the only reported technology that can treat nitrogen oxides at room temperature.
SQUAIR-2 can effectively capture formaldehyde, one of the major indoor pollutants. Based on a patented technology, SQUAIR-2 offers high storage capacity, high selectivity for formaldehyde to avoid rapid saturation of the material and can be regenerated in water at room temperature.
